BACK TO ‘MURICA
I’m back in the States! This was my first build to make after my return. Fittingly enough, I chose to recreate the scene where Athrun makes his reappearance with the Justice Gundam. Now that I have the trio of new Gundam Seed MG kits, I might consider doing a photo shoot with all three in the future. Kit review and build details following the image gallery. Enjoy!
Kit Review:
PROS:
- Great articulation & posability
- Lots of detailing to panel line
- Lots of weapon options
- Included stand can support the weight of the Fantum-00 backpack
- Great overall look and unique backpack design
CONS:
- Fragile J4 leg joint that has also been used in the MG Freedom 2.0 and Providence
- Guns on the Fantum-00 tend to block head movement or get in the way of posing
Paints used:
- Tamiya TS 59, pearl light red
- Tamiya TS 37, Lavender
- Tamiya TS 34, Camel yellow
- Tamiya TS 38, gun metal
- Tamiya TS 42, light gun metal
- Tamiya TS 82, Rubber black
The paint job looks unbelievably clean. I want to be able to do this to my kits some day.

Thanks! Practice makes perfect, so don’t be afraid to practice painting on some of your old kits 😀

What kind of equipment do you use for your paint jobs? I’m planning on getting an airbrush and compressor in the future and I was wondering if there are specs I should be looking for.

I actually just use tamiya and mr color spray cans because the apartment that I was living in Shanghai wasn’t big enough. If you’re thinking about picking up an airbrush, I’d do some research on creating a workspace and airbrush/compressor!

Oh wow you got that kind of effect with spray cans? Were they acrylics?

Roger that. Those brands aren’t really readily available here, but I’ll try to see what I can do with what I have. Thanks!
